2015 was a huge year for rap music with Future, Drake, Kendrick, and many others all taking the industry by storm. Its hard to believe, but 2016 could be just as good with many artists set to drop projects. Along with this, I have made 5 predictions I think will come true as this year progresses. Check it out! Let me know what yours are!

1. Everybody is a Kanye fan again after his new album drops

Ok so I know Kanye just dropped that lackluster Nike diss track, but hear me out. The dude was hated so much after those tswift antics back in the day, along with his new album 808’s & Heartbreaks getting mixed reviews during that era. What did he follow that up with? probably a top rap 5 album in the 21st century, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I believe history will repeat itself this time as Kanye isn’t really liked right now, and the Yeezus album was seen as mediocre by many. I think his next album entitled Swish, is about to blow peoples minds and Ye back on top. Just check out a snippet of a new track rumored to be on the next album below, crazy. #Kanye2020

2. Chance the Rapper’s 3rd Mixtape will be this years To Pimp a Butterfly

To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar took hip-hop by storm with all its deep meanings and fusion of sounds. I think this will be the case with Chano’s next mixtape due out this year. He hasn’t dropped a project since 2013 and I believe we are in for something special when this drops, as I’m sure he has a lot to say on it. Also there are millions of rumored guests to be on it from Frank Ocean to Andre 3000. All of this is shaping up to be a colossal project that I think this will take the game by storm similar to how Kdot did last year. Listen to his single below that he recently dropped featuring Jeremih and R. Kelly.

3. Saba & Joey Purp are the next Chicago superstars to blow up nationwide

Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa have been the notorious Chicago rap stars to blow up, getting constant national recognition. In 2016 I think this will be Saba & Joey Purp, who have been known locally for awhile and are destined to stardom. Both of their sounds are unique to themselves which is key in the rap industry right now, and each are due to release some sort of project this year. I would not be suprised if both strike gold and become a household name in the industry nationally. Check out some of my favorite tracks and a few they are featured on below.

4. GOOD Music & OVO Sound turn into a modern day Death Row & Bad Boy Records

GOOD Music and OVO are both in store for huge years, with OVO releasing albums from the likes of ilovemakonnen, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, and the 6 God himself. Good Music is not far behind as their own Pusha T was recently named president and is poised to make this the best year for the label, with not only himself dropping an album but also Kanye, Big Sean, and Travis Scott due for new albums. If all goes according to plan 2016 will be the year both labels become powerhouse hit makers, and newΒ talent will flock to sign. Rumors have it Lil Wayne might even make the move to GOOD Music since Birdman keeps robbing him of his money. Check out both labels new songs by their artists below that were releases in the past few months.

5. Tory Lanez is this years Fetty Wap to blow up

Remember when Fetty Wap came out of nowhere in 2015? then quickly turned into a hit making machine dropping My Way, 679, and Trap Queen. I believe this will be the story of Tory Lanez in 2016, as he already has the song “Say It” being played heavily by the radio. I think by the end of the year you’re gonna hear at least 3 radio anthems by this dude who has the skill of singing and rapping. Check out some of his work below, don’t be suprised when I told you after 2016 is all over.
