What a Rush!

Looking for a great student organization to be apart of? Alpha Kappa Psi’s Rush Week is THIS WEEK! Starting Tuesday January 21st, AKPsi has a host of activities available for you to get to know them and hopefully join their fraternity. This co-ed fraternity is a great way to meet more people on campus, build your professional business background, and gain transferable skills in the business world.

Guided by five core values, Alpha Kappa Psi focuses on providing ethical leadership and professional development. Through educational programs, community service, and hands-on application of formal education, Alpha Kappa Psi students use the business skills they are taught in the classroom to acquire life skills such as the art of compromise, consensus building, project management, interviewing and networking.

Alpha Kappa Psi was founded in 1904 at New York University on the principles of promoting institutions of business education, developing future leaders and fostering appreciation for higher ideals in business. Today the fraternity has grown to become the oldest and largest professional business fraternity in the world. With nearly 240,000 initiated members and more than 200 chapters, it is among the 20 largest fraternities. The men and women of AKPsi reflect the world’s diversity and are united by a common interest in business.

If you or anyone you know are interested in rushing this great business fraternity on campus check out their Chapter website at

Claude Vonstroke, Purity Ring at NCMF

It’s been a crazy and awesome week here at UIC.
Today the UIC Radio crew set out to rock out the Quad at today’s Involvement Fair East. For those of you who came out and enjoyed the nice weather, delicious nachos and funnel cakes– I’m sure we can agree that it was a pretty damn awesome event. What’s best is that we had people coming up to the booth rappin’, dancin’ and showing off some vocal skills all for the price of a Spark in the Park shirt!

As mentioned last week, we had a UIC Radio representative hit up North Coast Music Festival to check out the buzz. Because I’m a big fan of Detroit House and Deep House I had to check out the Last Stand Stage for the big man Claude Vonstroke!
Now here’s a guy who put out a cool show without having to jump around, get off stage and surf the crowd. NOPE, Vonstroke keeps it cool by just playing some damn cool tunes.
After catching up with Vonstroke we set out to watch the last of Purity Ring‘s set. For those of you unfamiliar with Purity Ring, just imagine a modern Blondie with a cool electronic twist. Like most artist you can’t expect a live performance to match the recorded and studio produced product, but this wasn’t the case. Purity Ring held the same performance as their studio work of course with the flamboyant flare of a live performance. While listening to There’s a chilling sensation after watching Megan James bang the huge drum in the middle of the stage. And of course Corin Roddick had an important role as the electronic percussionist flashing high and low plosive sounds into the airwaves.
Very Nice!

Welcome Back to School!!! UIC RADIO Covers North Coast Music Festival.

Welcome back to school boys and girls!
For some of you this is a complete bummer, no one said taking Calc, chem, bio or any elective classes is going to be easy.
However, here at UIC Radio we are stoked to be back in action!
Because we get to share some awesome music experiences from killer music festivals to exclusive artist interviews anywhere from Kendrick Lamar and Morgan Page to local celebs like Rude Gentlemen, Phero, or You Are Here

This week we are covering the North Coast Music Festival all three days.
We are keeping a watchful eye on Passion Pit, Claude Vonstroke, Afrojack, Mac Miller, Nas, and Wu-Tang. We are also very excited to come back for NCMF ‘s fourth year. It certainly seems as if every year they put out a bigger and greater show with top notch headlining artists…. I mean who would want to miss out on AFROJACK this year?!?!?!

Stay posted for any updates on the NCMF exclusively at UIC RADIO and Rock on!!
