j-cole-kod-album-cover

Good morning everyone! My name is Matt, your host for today’s Monday Morning Mailbox. Today’s question was asked by Brady M.

Brady M: I just listened to J Cole’s new album, KOD. I have my own interpretations on it; what are your first impressions?

Thank you for your inquiry. This album really hit me with its message, and I have a few things to say about the album.

The Daily Blend’s March Top Ten 2018

Yo, people of the internet! I am BACK for the month, and I’m so excited for this blog. March is one of my favorite months of the year, and this year’s March just happened to be an amazing month for music!

With everything that is played on my show, you all probably think I have way too much happening in the skull area of my body. So, I want to give everyone a little insight as to what’s going on in my brain, without having to look at the “Recently Played” section on my Spotify. The solution I came to was to tell everyone about the hidden (and not so hidden) gems in my music library for the month. Some of the music I post will be at the top of charts, some of the music won’t be your style, some will be a band’s biggest hit that I’ve just been happening to listen to a lot, and some will be completely unknown to you!

So, to start it off, here’s just a couple of my favorite artists for March, a little bit about them, and some song suggestions:

Songs To Dedicate To That Person For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is almost here. Love is in the air. It’s the time when everyone rushes to get their crush, boy/girlfriend, significant other, fiancé, husband/wife a gift to show them how much they mean to them. If you’re a fan of Hip-Hop you’ll love this list of songs.  Continue reading “Songs To Dedicate To That Person For Valentine’s Day”

New York Hip-Hop Back on Top?

New York Hip-Hop hasn’t had its shine since the early 2000s, because of the feuds that many of the rappers had with each other, and the South started gaining popularity that they have been dominating Hip-Hop for the most part; however, can 2018 be New York’s year back on top with acts like Cardi B, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and 6ixNine, A$AP MOB, Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, and The Underachievers. XXL Freshman 2018 Wants

XXL has been very controversial as of late ever since 2016 Freshman’s class which had a cypher of Denzel Curry, Lil Yatchy, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and Kodak Black. Denzel Curry was the one that didn’t fit with the bunch, because of his lyrics which actually were good, but the rest weren’t good, couldn’t stay on beat, or couldn’t understand, because they weren’t clear enough which one would call mumbling. So here are a few wants for this years XXL Freshman Class.  Continue reading “XXL Freshman 2018 Wants”

Stop Glorifying Drugs – Addiction Is Not A Joke

Lil-Peep-920x584

Last night around midnight I was listening to, “The Brightside,” by Lil Peep when I came across a tweet that read, “RIP lil peep.” My initial thought was that this was just another media scam, but I refreshed my timeline and my feed was flooded with the news that Lil Peep had actually died.

It didn’t feel real to me. I was literally listening to his voice through my headphones when I found out that he had just lost his life.

For those who don’t know, Lil Peep (Gustav Åhr) was a SoundCloud rapper on the rise. He found a way to create an unique sound within his music by blending emo and hip-hop. Lil Peep had been recording in his bedroom from the skid row of Los Angeles –  making something out of nothing – Lil Peep was one of the most promising and influential artists emerging from SoundCloud. In addition to rap, Lil Peep was also a fashion icon who had just begun making runway appearances. He was only 21. Only 21 years old and lost his life due to an alleged overdose.
